SpeakEasy - Poetry and Prose from the Page and the Stage
Welcome to the home page for SpeakEasy, the monthly spoken word event from The Worcestershire LitFest and Fringe.
SpeakEasy exists to provide a platform for all writers and performers of poetry and prose to share their work with an appreciative, supportive and well-attended audience. It is hosted by poet and all-round magenta-haired motormouth, Fergus McGonigal, who co-curates it with Worcestershire's favourite poetry diva, the inestimable Dame Maggie Doyle
SpeakEasy takes place on the second Thursday of every month at The Old Rectifying House in the heart of Worcester City; doors open at 7 pm for a 7.30 pm start, and it's all over by 9.45 pm (bar the rush to the bar).
We have eight or so pre-booked six-minute slots which you can book via our email address ([email protected]), four two-minute open mic slots (sign-up on the night), and a first-class headliner.
We promise to provide you with a very enjoyable evening of spoken word, with a friendly and dynamic atmosphere, featuring writers and performers from Worcestershire, the Midlands, and beyond.
